It all started with this video. You’ll see that at the 34 second mark there is a white owl and with that white owl our story starts.
It was our day off and we decided to go to Portland. We didn’t have any plans but we knew it had to be exciting. While we were there I had remembered that Isaac Brock lived in Portland. The thought of trying to find his house soon became a plan. After a lot of driving we finally came to it. We walked around outside of his house for awhile praying he would come out. Well after he didn’t we decided that we needed to take something as a souvenir. What better then the white owl! So we planned it all out and even wrote him a letter. In the letter we told him how much we liked his music but were upset he hadn’t played in Portland for a long time. We told him that we were taking the owl as ransom until he played. At the bottom of the note we also said we would like something signed and sent to an address(Which was my girlfriend’s parents house).
Well time had come and my girlfriend took it into her hands to tape the note to his door and grab the owl while I was to be the get away driver. After a lot of “I can’t do this” and “what if I get caught” she finally ran up and did it. she grabbed the owl and jumped in the car and we took off. Well at this point we are both ready to get out of Portland. SO we start heading home(it’s about an hour drive)
We get home around 6 and at 6:30 my girlfriend’s mom called and said “A lady from Portland called and she would like her lawn ornament back” So we call her and she doesn’t answer and we know we have to bring it back. So we head back to Portland. On the way back we starting thinking about if the cops are there or if Isaac freaks out at us. Pretty much just the worst staff that could happen. We pick up a little bamboo plant as a peace offering and color a picture of some owls. We park a little down the street and walk up. We get to his porch and sitting there on a chair it a little package all wrapped up. On it is a little note that says “To the owl thief”. We put the owl back and grabbed the package. While we are walking away we open up the package only to find 6 brand new Modest Mouse Cd’s.
We then decided we had to go and knock at the door. We get up and ring the doorbell and this girl come walking up. We introduce ourself as the owl thieves and apologize. She said thank you and we talked about. Well right when we were walking about she said “Oh, Isaac says thank you too!”.
That is how our night ended. As you can see from the pictures that this is true. Every last word. This happened Thursday 7/26/2012. In ending Isaac Brock is the greatest most nicest man ever. Side note: We both agree it was very dickish of us and will/would never do it again.
this is one of the most outrageous things i have ever read. you do not deserve those “gifts.” some of the people on here need to get real when it comes to isaac brock, seriously. he obviously made a mistake doing a tour of his house.
